Product Description

DMK Box + DMK App = DMK Informed Captain. The DMK Box wirelessly transmits marine instrument data for display on a mobile device via the DMK App or compatible software. It uses an ad hoc Wi-Fi connection from your iOS device to the DMK Box. It includes a wiring interface that connects to SeaTalk, NMEA 0183, and NMEA 2000. Includes GPS antenna and Wi-Fi Antenna.

DMK Box 11A-GPS Review

I have been using the DMK box in my 20 year old boat for about 6 months now. The product does exactly what it says it does; it reads data from the NMEA2000 bus and NMEA0183 inputs (I don't have Seatalk so haven't tried that, but have no reason to believe that wouldn't work as well) and sends that data to Wi-Fi clients. I use iOS clients such as the iPhone and iPad, but the DMK box isn't limited to those clients.

The simplicity of the DMK box is one of it's best assets. Unlike other boating companies, the folks at DMK Yacht have taken an open approach and implement networking properly. While not necessary to use the DMK Box, it is documented better than any product I've seen. The DMK box can conform to the network topology on your boat as it is instead of requiring you to reconfigure your boat's network to conform to the product. (I've had that experience with both Furuno and Fusion where I had to completely rebuild my network to support their products because they take a closed approach and don't implement basic IP networking fundamentals.)

The DMK Box provides great value for what it cost. The team at DMK Yacht is a pleasure to work with and very responsive. I wish more boat electronic companies would learn from DMK Yacht to provide this level of openness and responsiveness to their customers!
