I replaced an old one, I had been using for over 3 years (running 24/7), I thought it was pretty fast, not even sure the old one doesn't work any longer or if it is another issue, but I swapped it out with this one and it works great. I opted NOT to upgrade to a newer Ultrium (i.e. 5 or 6), as I have a lot of LTO4 tapes and I don't even fill them. No reason for a few more years to upgrade. When you replace one, be sure to check the jumpers on the old one and apply the same jumpers to the new one. Otherwise you will need to change the SCSI ID in the system.
