The 256 drive is fantastic on my wife's Windows 7 box. I have to get the 255 for more space. I had to scrub the 125 to get 20% free space and all the software isn't install yet. My Ubuntu box has more software on 90 megabyte drive write 50% free space and needs cleaning badly.

It was my error for thinking the 90 megabyte drive I have used hard for a year I with only 30% of for program space would allow me to be safe on Widows 7 with 125 Megabyte.

Both have plenty of hybrid drive space for photos and data.

With 8 fast 8 core Intel processors and 32 Gigabytes of Ram and these hard drives $2000 dollars makes a very powerful work station that is absolutely quite until you back up to a disk run a parallel job and heats several CPUs that can't shut down or swap with a cool CPU and must turn on a fan to cool the CPUs AND the cores.

Jobs that once took 24 hours to run now under 5 minutes as is.

I can pull the world agriculture production for 1960 to date up in 14 seconds the second time time I extracted a gziped comma delimited file on the new window using R under Windows. On the 18 month old Ubuntu machine the first load took 22 seconds and the second 19 seconds. Both were moderately loaded running 3 web browsers with 10 to 12 windows open each.

The network is the choke point. These drives can be the can of and awesome computer. Its questionable if I won;t get more bang for my buck in Amazon's cloud when it comes dollar for raw computing power I think the cloud may win hands down. But at 70 I don't want to learn yet another architecture and have to switch all my stuff to it tomorrow. Ask me in a year.
