  The Tokina 12-28mm f/4.0 AT-X Pro Lens for Nikon DX Cameras is a wide-angle to standard length compact zoom lens. It has a max aperture of f/4.0 and is equivalent to 19-45mm in 35mm format. It features a one-touch AF/MF clutch mechanism to toggle between auto and manual focus. A GMR (magnetic precision) AF sensor provides fast and accurate AF. The lens' autofocus responds smoothly and quietly due to the SD-M (Silent Drive-Module). The use of ultra-low dispersion glass eliminates chromatic imperfections in photos. Aspherical lens elements in both the front and rear lens groups correct distortion and minimize aberrations throughout the zoom range.

  This lens is a recent purchase so I can't vouch for the long term construction quality, but I can say that the barrel extends with just the right amount of tension and without any sloppy movement. And, unlike some reviewers' opinions, I find the push/pull manual focus control very convenient compared to groping for the switch on the side of most lenses. Focusing is fast and I'm getting sharp images on my Nikon D5100. The focal range is quite versatile since it goes from ultra wide into the 'normal' range. So far, Lightroom does not have Lens Correction to support this new product.
